Zirakpur: Man kills 6-month-old infant after fight with wife; arrested
Zirakpur, June 14: A man reportedly killed his six-month-old son after a fight with his wife on Monday, Mohali Police said.
According to the reports, Mohali police have arrested a 29-year-old man for allegedly killing his son after an argument with his wife at his residence in Zirakpur.
The accused, Abhishek Sharma works in an IT company in Chandigarh and had confessed to the crime to his wife Nikita, the police added.
Nikita, 26, while talking to police informed that she and Abhishek got married in November 2020 at his native town Premnagar in Uttarakhand's Dehradun.
However, the couple started having disputes and arguments soon after the marriage. They shifted to Zirakpur in March 2021 after Abhishek got a job in a private firm.
"We were then blessed with a boy in January this year. On June 11, we visited his family at Premnagar but we got involved in quarrels and arguments,” she added.
"After a fight at Premnagar, Abhishek and I left the house and arrived at Zirakpur early on June 12," she continued.

"He took my son into a room and shut the door from the inside shortly after arriving home. He refused to open the door despite repeated requests. Then I went to my sister's house in Chandigarh for help, but when we got back to Zirakpur, the house was locked and Abhishek had fled with my son. We looked for them in the nearby parks but couldn't find them," Nikita added.
“I again left with my sister to live at her house for the night. But, when I returned on Monday, my son was lying dead on the bed; his hands and mouth had turned blue and Abhishek was sitting next to him," she said, adding, when asked what happened, he confessed that he had killed him on the intervening night of June 12 and 13. He had suffocated my son with his hands till he died."
After the incident, Nikita lodged a complaint at the Zirakpur police station.
“We have registered a case against Abhishek Sharma, under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and arrested him. He will be produced in the local court on Tuesday,” said SHO, Zirakpur police station.
Meanwhile, the infant has been taken to the Dera Bassi civil hospital for a post-mortem.
