PTC News Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Quad Summit in Delaware, US, on Saturday, emphasising the significance of the meeting amidst ongoing global tensions and conflicts.

"Our gathering is happening at a time when the world is surrounded by tensions and conflicts. In such a scenario, the Quad’s cooperation based on shared democratic values is crucial for the entire humanity," PM Modi remarked during his opening speech.

He stressed that the Quad alliance, which includes the US, Japan, India, and Australia, is not formed against any nation but stands for a "rules-based international order, respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, and the peaceful resolution of all disputes." The prime minister highlighted that ensuring a "free, open, inclusive, and prosperous Indo-Pacific" is a shared priority of the Quad nations. He also noted the alliance's strides in sectors such as health, climate change, security, emerging technologies, and capacity building.

Addressing US President Joe Biden, Modi praised his role in strengthening the Quad. "It gives me immense pleasure to participate in this Quad Summit during my third term. Under your leadership, the first summit of 2021 was organized," Modi stated. "In such a short period, we have expanded our cooperation across various areas. You have played a crucial role in this, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your commitment and contribution to Quad."

Modi added that India would be honored to host the Quad Summit in 2025.

The Prime Minister's three-day visit to the US includes bilateral discussions with President Biden, where they explored ways to bolster US-India relations and address pressing regional and global issues. Following the summit, Modi will travel to New York to engage with the Indian-American community, meet tech industry leaders, and deliver an address at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
