Who was Yuvraj Goyal, the 28-year-old sales executive killed in Canada
PTC News Desk: On Friday, a 28-year-old man of Indian descent from Ludhiana, Punjab, was shot and killed in Surrey, Canada. On Saturday, the police charged four individuals with first-degree murder and placed them under arrest.
Although preliminary investigation indicates that Yuvraj Goyal's death was the result of a targeted shooting, investigators are still trying to piece together why Goyal was killed.
All about Yuvraj Goyal:
1. Yuvraj moved to Canada in 2019 with a student visa, and he recently became a permanent resident (PR), which is a big step towards his goals of living a better life.
2. He was employed as a sales representative.
3. He was from a low-class household in Ludhiana. While his mother, Shakun Goyal, devoted her time to taking care of the family, his father, Rajesh Goyal, operates a firewood business.
4. Yuvraj graduated with honors from Delhi University with a Bachelor of Commerce before moving.
5. It was well known that Yuvraj had no criminal history.
6. The four people detained in connection with Yuvraj's death are Manvir Basram, a 23-year-old Surrey resident; Sahib Basra, a 20-year-old Surrey resident; Harkirat Jhutty, a 23-year-old Surrey resident; and Keilon Francois, a 20-year-old Ontario resident.
7. "There is still work to be done," stated Sergeant Timothy Pierotti of Canada's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) in a statement. "We're thankful for the hard work of the Surrey RCMP, Air 1, and IERT. The goal of IHIT investigators is still to ascertain why Mr. Goyal became the victim of this murder."
