Which countries are most likely to be hit from Trump's tariffs ?

PTC News Desk: US President Donald Trump is all se to impose reciprocal tariffs on April 2 to what he calls Liberation Day for America.. The tariffs will directly target countries that impose high duties on US goods or follow restrictive trade policies that the White House considers unfair.


After imposition of US tariffs, certain countries are most likely to suffer from the new measures. Trump has often asserted that existing trade rules often benefit other countries at the cost of America, however these tariffs are being imposed in response to the concerns. 

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent referred to a group of nations who will be bearing the brun as 'Dirty 15'. These countries are :

  • China
  • European Union
  • Mexico
  • Vietnam
  • Ireland
  • Germany
  • Taiwan
  • Japan
  • South Korea
  • Canada
  • India
  • Thailand
  • Italy
  • Switzerland
  • Malaysia
  • Indonesia

In addition to this, the Office of the US Trade Representative (USTR) has also highlighted 21 nations that follow trade practices deemed unfair. This extended list includes:

Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, the European Union, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, the United Kingdom and Vietnam.

Which tariffs will be imposed ?

Although the tariffs imposition will vary from country to country, yet the major products around which it is likely to revolve around are steel and aluminium, foreign automobiles, and Chinese goods.
