Vivek Ramaswamy quits department of government efficiency (DOGE), likely to contest for Ohio governor

PTC News Desk: Vivek Ramaswamy has announced his exit from department of government efficiency (DOGE), the White House announced on Monday. The announcement came hours after Donald Trump assumed office. 


“Vivek Ramaswamy played a critical role in helping us create DOGE. He intends to run for elected office soon, which requires him to remain outside of DOGE, based on the structure that we announced today. We thank him immensely for his contributions over the last 2 months and expect him to play a vital role in making America great again,” official statement read. 

According to the reports, Indian-origin entrepreneur Ramaswamy has signaled his plans to run for governor of Ohio, the elections for which are expected to take place next year. The announcement of his parting ways came shortly after Trump was sworn in as United States President for a second term. 

The Indian-American entrepreneur-turned-politician confirmed the news on his social media and wrote, “It was my honor to help support the creation of DOGE. I’m confident that Elon and his team will succeed in streamlining government."

Ramaswamy's departure from DOGE comes hours after Trump ssumed office. He has signalled his plans for running for governor of Ohio as the seat fell vacant after J D Vance was sworn in as Vice President. Though he has not formally made the announcement, however it is expected to come as early as next week. 

If elected, he would be the first Indian American Governor of Ohio.

DOGE is a nongovernmental task force which was assigned with the task of finding ways to fire federal workers, cut programs and slash federal regulations — all part of what the new president calls his “Save America" agenda for his second term.
