'Violence has no place in politics': PM condemns attack on his 'friend' Trump

PTC News Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed worry this morning about the attempted assassination of former US President Donald Trump during an election rally in Pennsylvania, saying that violence has no place in politics or democracies.

The attack on my friend, former President Donald Trump, deeply disturbs me. Condemn the incident with conviction. Democracies and politics are not places for violence. "Hope he recovers quickly," Prime Minister Modi wrote on X.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased, those injured and the American people," he said.

On Saturday, during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, Trump was the target of gunfire. According to the 78-year-old, the bullet went through his right ear. Images from the demonstration showed him being hurried off the platform by security guards with blood all over his face. As the gunman fired several shots, one bystander was murdered and two others were gravely injured. The security guards shot and killed him, although they haven't yet recognised them.

Following the shooting, US President Joe Biden—who is running against Trump in the US election scheduled for November—strongly denounced the act and also communicated with his fiercest opponent.

This kind of violence has no place in America. It's ill. It's ill. It's among the reasons this nation has to be brought together. Following the assault on Trump, Biden addressed reporters at an emergency briefing, saying, "We cannot be like this, we cannot condone this."

It is simply unheard of that there is political violence or violence of this kind in America. Simply put, it's inappropriate. Everyone ought to denounce it. Everyone," stated Biden.

"The gunshot at Donald Trump's Pennsylvania rally has been reported to me. That he is safe and doing well pleases me. While we wait for more details, I'm praying for him, his family, and everyone who attended the protest.

We are appreciative to the Secret Service for securing his safety, Jill and I. This kind of violence has no place in America. In a post on X, Biden stated, "We have to come together as a country to denounce it.
