Ukraine war: Russia launched multiple waves of drone attacks on Kyiv, marking one of the largest assaults of its kind in the ongoing war, according to the city’s military administration on Wednesday. The Ukrainian capital was under air raid alerts for nearly the entire night.

Ukraine’s air defense systems successfully destroyed over 30 drones by 6:30 a.m. (0330 GMT) on Wednesday, noted Serhiy Popko, head of Kyiv's military administration. “This was one of the most massive drone attacks on Ukraine during the entire war,” Popko said on the Telegram messaging app. He added that according to the latest operational reports, there were no casualties or damage in Kyiv.

The full extent of the attack remains unclear, and there was no immediate comment from Russia. Russian state news agencies, citing Russian fighters in Ukraine, reported that the attacks targeted several military airports and warehouses across Ukraine.

Air raid alerts were in effect for Kyiv and most of central and eastern Ukraine from 2000 GMT on Tuesday. Kyiv's Mayor, Vitali Klitschko, stated on Telegram that the attack on the city came from multiple directions.
