Two Russian airports suspend flights after Ukrainian drone attack on residential complex
PTC Web Desk: Russia's Kazan airport has temporarily suspended all flight arrivals and departures following a Ukrainian drone attack on the city, as confirmed by Russia's aviation authority, Rosaviatsia, via Telegram on Saturday.
The drone attack targeted a residential complex in Kazan, located approximately 500 miles (800 km) east of Moscow. Russian state news agencies reported that a total of eight drone strikes were recorded, including six hitting residential buildings.
Fortunately, no casualties have been reported, according to the local authorities. Unverified footage shared by the Baza Telegram channel, which has ties to Russia's security services, showed an aerial object crashing into a high-rise building, causing a large fireball.
In addition to the disruption in Kazan, Rosaviatsia also announced temporary flight restrictions at Izhevsk airport, a smaller city northeast of Kazan.
