Turkey, Syria earthquake: Miracle baby born in Syria, rescued from earthquake rubble

New Delhi, February 8: The devastating earthquake in southern Turkey and Syria where the death crossed 7,800 mark, and rescue operation team is continuing to pull out the survivors from the debris. A baby girl was reportedly rescued from the rubble of her home in northern Syria. The massive Turkey earthquake that took place since Monday. 

While the rescue operation was on for the horrific incident a pregnant woman gives birth turkey, where her umbilical cord was still attached to her mother when she rescued under the rubble.  According to reports her mother is believed to have died after giving birth in the Syria earthquake.


“We heard a voice while we were digging,” cousin Khalil al-Suwadi told on Tuesday. “We cleared the dust and found the baby with the umbilical cord (intact), so we cut it and my cousin took her to hospital.”

Turkey earthquake death toll, is rising rapidly, and the rescue operation is still on and survivors ae being pulled from the rubble in Syria and Turkey. According to the local time the magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck early on Monday morning.

The pregnant woman gives birth to the newborn, unfortunately the woman could not survive but the rescued newborn is now receiving treatment at a children’s hospital. The newborn is receiving treatment in Afrin town and doctors informed that the baby is stable now but arrived with bruises, lacerations and hypothermia.

According to the information received, she is believed to be the sole survivor of her immediate family. They lived in a five-story apartment building that was leveled by the Syria earthquake.

Syria earthquake death toll rise to at least 2,500, where the destruction is also compounding trauma and hardship for families still suffering the effects of a decade-long civil war.

Rescue efforts have been complicated by freezing conditions, blocked roads, damaged infrastructure and several violent aftershocks.
