The incident took place Thursday afternoon and involved a Van’s RV-10, a four-seat single-engine aircraft, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The local authorities confirmed the fatalities and reported that 10 persons were rushed to nearby hospitals, while eight others were treated at the scene. The identities of the victims and whether they were aboard the plane or inside the building remain unclear. Emergency crews responded quickly to the crash site, containing the fire and assisting the injured.
Eyewitnesses recounted the chaotic scene, with Jerome Cruz, an employee inside the building, describing the incident as a loud "boom" followed by a rush to safety. Television footage revealed a large hole in the building’s roof with smoke billowing from the wreckage.
This tragic crash marks the second such aviation incident near Fullerton Airport in recent months, following a November crash that injured two persons. The authorities are now investigating the cause of the crash, and questions are being raised about aviation safety protocols in the area.
