Sikh restaurant owner’s car reportedly shot at by alleged Khalistan supporters in London
PTC News Desk: A Sikh restaurant owner in West London who had previously received threats from extremists for speaking out against them has now alleged that his car was shot at and vandalized by the alleged Khalisatan supporters.
According to a video posted on X by Insightuk2, a social movement of British Hindus and Indians, unidentified assailants allegedly opened fire on Harman Singh Kapoor's car, and his family has been subjected to constant threats of violence and rape by alleged Khalistan supporters.
However, no official statement has been issued by the UK authorities on these claims.
Notably, the claims surfaced on the same day Indian High Commissioner Vikram Doraiswami was blocked from entering a Gurdwara in Scotland.
“They were threatened and abused by these elements. In an effort to prevent any potential altercation, the HC and CG decided to leave the premises shortly upon their arrival,” India’s High Commission to the UK stated.
Charlotte Littlewood, a UK-based journalist and researcher, stated in a post shared on X that the attack on Kapoor's family was ongoing.
“Attack on Harman Singh Kapoor family is ongoing. They are awaiting police as Khalistani extremists are thought to have shot at their vehicle in London. As feared the Canada row has emboldened extremists - we will see more of this,” she said.
Earlier in the day, she questioned the family's decision to remove the panic alarm from their car in the midst of the diplomatic fallout from Canada's claim of Indian involvement in the killing of Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
Previously, on May 4, Kapoor and his family claimed that they had received constant online threats after posting a video about Khalistan cause on social media, according to Khalsa Vox.
Despite police assurances of safety and special safeguarding measures, the alleged threats were made. According to Khalsa Vox, a news platform covering Punjab politics, history, culture, and tradition, the family has been attacked three times and does not feel safe.
