PTC News Desk: US President Donald Trump has appointed Sean Curran the head of his security detail, as the director of the Secret Service. Curran was one of many agents who immediately rushed to aid Trump after a man opened fire him in Pennsylvania last year leaving him blooded ear.

Describing Curran as a "brilliant leader", Trump said that he is capable of leading operational security plans for "the most complex Special Security Events in the History of our Country, and the World."

"Sean is a Great Patriot, who has protected my family over the past few years, and that is why I trust him to lead the Brave Men and Women of the United States Secret Service," Trump posted on Truth Social.

Trump added, “He proved his fearless courage when he risked his own life to help save mine from an assassin's bullet in Butler, Pennsylvania. have complete and total confidence in Sean to make the United States Secret Service stronger than ever before.”

Sean Curran's nomination comes after a panel recommended that agency requires a leadership with experience outside the Secret Service.

Curran has a 23-year career with the Secret Service, beginning as a special agent at the Newark field office. During President Trump's first term, he was appointed as the head of the Presidential Protective Division.

“The Secret Service has become bureaucratic, complacent, and static," the four members of the bipartisan review panel said in a letter to then-Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas that accompanied their 52-page report.
