Escalating tensions between Russia and Ukraine

The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues to dominate headlines and shape global geopolitics. What started as a regional dispute has now escalated into a broader confrontation with far-reaching implications.

The roots of the conflict trace back to Ukraine's desire for closer ties with the West, particularly its aspirations to join NATO and the European Union. Russia, viewing these moves as a threat to its sphere of influence, annexed Crimea in 2014 and supported separatist movements in eastern Ukraine.

The conflict has not only exacted a heavy toll on the people of Ukraine, with thousands killed and millions displaced, but it has also strained relations between Russia and the West.
