PTC News Desk: Former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Rishi Sunak offered prayers at the Sri Raghavendra Swami Mutt in Jayanagar, Bengaluru, with his wife Akshata and family during the auspicious month of Kartika.
The visit, accompanied by renowned mother-in-law and philanthropist Sudha Narayana Murthy, highlighted the cultural and spiritual linkages between India and the United Kingdom.
The couple's visit to the mutt, located in Jayanagar's fifth block, served as a moment of reverence and reflection, highlighting their connection to Indian traditions.
Rishi Sunak has always been vocal about his belief in Indian customs, and he has visited multiple temples during past trips to the country. Sunak spoke openly about his Hindu beliefs during a visit to London's famed BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir, also known as Neasden Temple, in January of this year. He stated, “I am Hindu, and like all of you, I draw inspiration and comfort from my faith. I was proud to be sworn in as a member of Parliament on the 'Bhagavad Gita'. Our faith teaches us to do our duty and not fret about the outcome as long as one does it faithfully.”
Sunak also said he plans to pass on the tradition to his children. “That is what I was brought up to believe by my wonderful and loving parents, and that is how I live my life, and that is what I want to pass on to my daughters as they grow up. It is dharma which guides me in my approach to public service,” he added.
