Georgia: Punjab resident amongst 11 Indian nationals found dead at a restaurant in Georgia
PTC News Desk: In a tragic accident, 12 Indian nationals people including 11 Indian nationals were found dead at a restaurant in Georgia. According to the Indian mission in the capital Tbilisi, they reportedly died due to the carbon monoxide poisoning. The bodies were discovered on the second floor of a building housing an Indian food restaurant at a ski resort.
Amongst 11, one deceased has been identified as Sameer Kumar who was a resident of Khanna city in Punjab's Ludhiana district.
The Indian embassy issued a statement while offering condolences and said that the mission is in touch with the local authorities to fetch the details of the deceased. “Mission has just learned about the death of 12 Indian nationals in Gudauri, Georgia. Deepest condolences to the bereaved families. Mission is in touch with the local authorities to get details of the Indian nationals who lost their lives. All possible assistance will be given," said the Indian embassy.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the incident is being treated as a case of negligent loss of life under Article 116 of Georgia’s Criminal Code. The victims were reortedly the employees of the restaurant who were found sleeping on the second floor. According to the preliminary investigation, no signs of external violence have been reported so far.
A generator after the power outage is suspected to be used in closed indoor space which reportedly caused the release of carbon monoxide gas. A rigirous investigation intro the matter has been launched.
