PM Modi shares insights from Ukraine visit in call with Russia's Putin

PTC News Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who made a historic visit to Ukraine last week, held discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, where they exchanged views on the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict. In a post on social media platform X, PM Modi stated that he shared insights from his recent trip to Kyiv, where he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. During his visit, he encouraged Zelenskyy to engage in dialogue with Putin to seek a peaceful resolution to the ongoing crisis.

Despite India's stance of not condemning the Russian invasion of Ukraine, PM Modi reaffirmed India's strong commitment to advocating for an "early, abiding, and peaceful resolution" to the conflict, which has now been ongoing for over three years.

In his tweet, PM Modi mentioned, "Discussed measures to further strengthen the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership. Exchanged perspectives on the Russia-Ukraine conflict and my insights from the recent visit to Ukraine."

Modi’s visit to Ukraine marked the first time an Indian Prime Minister has traveled to the country, occurring just six weeks after his bilateral meeting in Moscow. Experts see these diplomatic engagements as India's efforts to assume a more significant role in mediating the conflict, which has resulted in nearly 100,000 casualties on both sides.
