PM Modi in Austria, first visit by Indian Prime Minister in 40 years
PM Modi in Austria: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Vienna on Tuesday from Moscow for a two-day visit during which the two countries would discuss ways to strengthen their bilateral relationship and cooperate on a variety of geopolitical issues.
It is the first visit by an Indian prime leader to Austria in almost 40 years, since Indira Gandhi in 1983.
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Modi will meet with the President of the Republic of Austria, Alexander Van der Bellen, as well as Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer.
The Prime Minister and Chancellor will also speak to business leaders from India and Austria.
Ahead of his visit to Austria, Modi stated on Sunday that the two countries' shared values of democracy, freedom, and the rule of law will serve as the foundation for a stronger partnership.
Modi's statement came a day after Austrian Chancellor Nehammer said on 'X', "I very much look forward to welcoming Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, the world's largest democracy, next week in Vienna." "This visit is a special honour as it marks the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister in over 40 years and a significant milestone as we celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations with India." he added.
