Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project: Amid warnings from the US, Pakistan's Defence Minister Khawaja Asif expressed optimism regarding the completion of the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project.

He emphasised the need for regional stakeholders to unite amidst growing interference from major powers like the European Union and the United States.

Asif highlighted the recent visit of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to Pakistan as a significant development, particularly in the context of the stalled pipeline project due to geopolitical tensions and international sanctions.

Despite US advice against engaging in business deals with Iran, Asif reiterated the longstanding friendly ties between Islamabad and Tehran. He mentioned that security concerns prevented a large meeting during Raisi's visit, indicating the complexities involved.

Meanwhile, the United States imposed sanctions on numerous entities and individuals involved in facilitating illicit trade and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) transfers on behalf of the Iranian military.

This move was echoed by the UK and Canada, which also imposed sanctions targeting entities and individuals involved in Iran's UAV procurement and other military-related activities.
