Pakistan conducts weapon testing along Line of Control
PTC News Desk: Pakistan has conducted several artillery tests along LoC including a replica SH-15 and a 155 mm truck-mounted howitzer which is developed by a Chinese company.
During the testing, the movement of the 155 mm guns was also observed which was manufactured in collaboration with Gulf nation and under the surveillance of state owned Chinese defence company. The guns are a variant of SH-15 which is significantly known for its 'shoot and scoot' capability.
Among the arsenal being tested is the refurbished M109, which has a firing range of 24 kilometres and can launch six shells in just 40 seconds. Initially acquired from a Western European country, this artillery system is now undergoing trials in its enhanced version, the officials said.
According to officials, China has played a significant role in enhancing Pakistan's military capabilities along the Line of Control (LoC). This support includes the construction of reinforced bunkers, provision of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), combat aircraft, and advanced communication systems.
Earlier this year, China’s North Industries Group Corporation Limited (NORINCO) supplied a second batch of 56 SH-15 155 mm wheeled self-propelled howitzers to the Pakistani army. Additionally, Chinese assistance has involved the installation of encrypted communication towers and underground fiber optic cables along the LoC, officials noted.
