Oman Sultan 3-day visit to India: Oman Sultan Haitham bin Tarik landed at the national capital for three-day state visit to India on December 15. 

The ongoing visit of Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman to India is poised to elevate the existing strategic partnership between the two nations, emphasising the promotion of trade, investment, and cooperation across diverse sectors. 

On Day 2 of Oman Sultan 3-day visit to India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tarik at the Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Saturday and discussed future collaborations between the two countries.

Taking to X, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Arindam Bagchi shared about the meeting saying, "Giving a boost to India-Oman Strategic Partnership! PM @narendramodi warmly received His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman at Hyderabad House, setting the stage for bilateral discussions. Agenda includes taking stock of bilateral ties and charting pathways for the future collaboration between the two countries."

India to host luncheon in Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik's honour

PM Modi will also host a luncheon in Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik's honour.

Earlier today, Sultan of Oman was accorded a ceremonial reception at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Saturday, the second day of his state visit to India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu received the Sultan at the Rashtrapati Bhawan.

Sultan Haitham bin Tarik then inspected a Guard of Honour by the combined defence services.

Oman Sultan's visit to India: Key Talks and discussions 

State visit by the Sultan of Oman marks a significant milestone in the diplomatic relations between New Delhi and Muscat.

The discussions between Sultan Haitham and the Indian leadership in New Delhi aim to foster integration and cooperation, paving the way for enhanced collaboration. Discussions on sectors include industry, construction, trade, transportation, communications, oil and gas, mining, quarrying, education, agriculture, fisheries, tourism, and health. The Sultan's visit signifies a commitment to further strengthening these economic ties and fostering mutual growth.

India and Oman Relations 

India and Oman share a long-standing friendship rooted in historical, cultural, and economic ties. Moreover, people-to-people contact between India and Oman can be traced back 5,000 years.

The diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1955, and the relationship was upgraded to a strategic partnership in 2008.

Oman is India's closest defence partner in the Gulf region as well, and defence cooperation has emerged as a key pillar of the strategic partnership between India and Oman. 

Oman is the only country in West Asia with which all three services of the Indian Armed Forces conduct regular bilateral exercises and service-level staff talks.
