PTC News Desk: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has firmly rejected US Pesident-elect Donald Trump's idea of US-Canada merger using economic force to make Canada 51st state of the United States. He also asserted that such situation is impossible to happen.

Justin Trudeau took to her social media and rejected Trumps's idea of merger highlighting bilateral ties that both the countries share and benefit from each other.

"Workers and communities in both out countries benefit from being each other's biggest trading and security partner," he further added.

After the electoral victory, Donal Trump in a dinner meet floated the idea of making Canada 51st state of the United States. The remakrs followed Trudeau's mounting concerns over tariffs by US government which could jeopardise Canada's economy.

Commenting on the same on Tuesday at a press briefing in Mar-a-Lago, when asked if he was considering using military force to acquire Canada, the President-elect said, “No, economic force,” he responded. “Because Canada and the United States, that would really be something”.

Earlier, Canada's foreign minister Melani Joly also condemned Trump's remarks and said that it showed a complete lack of understanding of what makes Canada a strong country.
