Kuwait fire: DNA testing underway to identify victims; IAF aircraft to bring back mortal remains of Indians
Kuwait fire: The bodies of some of the Indians killed in the fire in Kuwait are charred beyond recognition, DNA testing is underway to confirm the victims' identities and an IAF aircraft is on standby to bring back the mortal remains of Indians killed in the incident.
Kirti Vardhan Singh, Minister of State for External Affairs, has left for Kuwait on a directive from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to oversee help to Indians injured in the fire and to ensure the early repatriation of mortal remains of those killed.
Officials said 49 people were killed in the Al-Mangaf building, with 42 of them being Indians and the rest being Pakistani, Filipino, Egyptian, and Nepali nationals.
"In an unfortunate and tragic fire incident earlier today in a Labour housing facility in the Mangaf area of Kuwait, around 40 Indians are understood to have died and over 50 injured," the Ministry of External Affairs had said.

A fire engulfed a multi-story building housing foreign workers in southern Kuwait's Mangaf area early Wednesday, killing at least 49 people, largely Indians, and injuring more than 50 others, officials said.
