PTC News Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated KP Sharma Oli on his appointment as Prime Minister of Nepal, saying he looked forward to deepening the two nations' mutually beneficial partnership.

Oli, the leader of the Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist-Leninist (CPN-UML), joined hands with Sher Bahadur Deuba's Nepali Congress to create a new coalition government after former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal failed to pass a trust vote in Parliament last week. This will be Oli's fourth term as prime minister.

In a tweet on X, Modi wrote: "Congratulations @kpsharmaoli on your appointment as Prime Minister of Nepal."

He continued: "Look forward to working closely to further strengthen the deep bonds of friendship between our two countries and to further expand our mutually beneficial cooperation for the progress and prosperity of our peoples."

The Indian side would be closely observing the new coalition government in Kathmandu's foreign policy stance, as Oli wanted to bring Nepal closer to China during his last tenure.

Oli had also sparked a dispute between the two countries by producing a new map that included Limpiyadhura, Kalapani, and Lipulekh - areas in India - within Nepal's borders.

Nepal is also set to appoint a new envoy to India, as the current one, Shankar Sharma, was one of 11 ambassadors recalled by the previous government in June.
