India's monthly cashless payments match America's 3-year total: Jaishankar
PTC News Desk: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar recently addressed the Indian community in Nigeria, emphasising India's significant strides in technology-driven payments. He stated that India accomplishes as many cashless transactions in a month as the United States does in three years, showcasing the country's deep integration of technology into its payment systems.
During the interaction, Jaishankar highlighted the transformative changes in India over the past decade, citing five major examples. He commended how the country tackled challenges, recovered economically, improved the lives of its citizens, achieved global recognition, and effectively managed its diaspora.

Jaishankar underscored India's status as the fastest-growing economy globally, noting the positive shift in business sentiment toward New Delhi. He emphasised the unprecedented flow of investments into the country, reflecting heightened confidence in India's economic prospects. Discussing the ongoing economic activity in India, Jaishankar observed extensive infrastructure development, including the construction of metros, roads, airports, trains, and railway stations. He pointed out progress in rural areas, such as the implementation of piped water systems and electrification projects.
Addressing India's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Jaishankar expressed confidence in the nation's ability to overcome challenges. He recounted India's journey from initial concerns about coping with the pandemic to becoming a global supplier of medicines.
Following his participation in the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit in Uganda, Jaishankar arrived in Nigeria. He is set to co-chair the sixth India-Nigeria Joint Commission Meeting (JCM) and engage in various activities, including inaugurating the Nigeria-India Business Council meeting, delivering a speech at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, interacting with business delegates, and unveiling a bust of Mahatma Gandhi. Additionally, Jaishankar will chair the regional conference of Indian heads of missions, further strengthening India's diplomatic ties with Nigeria.
