PTC Web Desk: A 23-year-old student from Telangana, Aryan Reddy, tragically lost his life in the United States due to an accidental gunshot on his birthday, November 13. Reddy, a native of Uppal, Telangana, was pursuing a Master's degree at Georgia State University.

According to reports, Aryan had obtained a hunting gun licence in the US. The mishap occurred when the firearm accidentally discharged while he was handling it. His body is expected to arrive in Telangana tonight.

Sudarshan Reddy, Aryan’s father, expressed deep sorrow over the incident, urging parents to remain cautious about their children acquiring gun licences while studying abroad. “We had no idea students could obtain hunting gun licences there. This is an unimaginable tragedy no parent should endure,” he said.

Data from US consular officials in Hyderabad revealed that India overtook China as the leading source of students to US universities for the 2023-24 academic year. Telangana and Andhra Pradesh played a key role, contributing 56% of Indian students, with 34% from Telangana and 22% from Andhra Pradesh.
