Hezbollah media chief killed in Israeli strike on Beirut
PTC News Desk: Mohammed Afif, Hezbollah's media relations chief, was killed in an Israeli strike in Beirut, Lebanon on Sunday.
According to The Times of Israel, Hezbollah has confirmed Mohammad Afif's death.
The Times of Israel stated that Afif was killed in an IDF strike on the Syrian Ba'ath Party headquarters in central Beirut.
The Times of Israel reports that Israel has yet to confirm the killing of the Hezbollah spokesman.
According to Al Jazeera, Afif attended many press conferences for Hezbollah, providing updates on the Israeli attack. Afif spent several years managing Hezbollah's Al-Manar television station before becoming the armed group's chief media relations official.
Afif recently told reporters that Hezbollah has enough weapons to conduct a "long war" with Israel. His assassination is another step towards Israel's goal of eliminating Hezbollah leadership.
Israel previously killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah after a Lebanon-based group declared Hashem Safieddine as its head.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, three people were arrested for throwing flares towards Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's home.
Two flares were thrown at Netanyahu's private home in Caesarea on Saturday night, landing in the courtyard. The prime minister and his family were not present at the time.
In October of this year, a Hezbollah drone hit Netanyahu's private residence. Images provided by Israeli media showed cracks in a bedroom window where the drone struck but did not penetrate.
