PTC Web Desk: Victoria Police in Melbourne, Australia, have launched a search for two Indian-origin brothers suspected of involvement in the alleged killing of Navjeet Sandhu, a 22-year-old MTech student from Karnal, Haryana. He was fatally stabbed during a confrontation between a group of Indian students over house rent.

According to Navjeet's kin in Karnal, the incident took place when when Navjeet Sandhu reportedly intervened in a fight between fellow Indian students over a rent issue. While accompanying a friend to retrieve belongings, Navjeet Sandhu witnessed a scuffle and attempted to intervene, resulting in him being stabbed in the chest with a knife. Navjeet's friend also sustained injuries during the altercation.

The tragic news has left Navjeet's family shattered back home, who described him as a brilliant student planning to return home in July for vacations. Navjeet had moved to Australia on a study visa one-and-a-half years ago, with his father selling a portion of their land to fund his education.

His family has appealed to the Government of India for assistance in repatriating Navjeet's body to India.

Meanwhile, Victoria Police's Homicide Squad detectives are seeking Abhijeet and Robin Gartan, both of Indian descent, in connection with the stabbing. Abhijeet, 26, and Robin, 27, are described as having a solid build and black hair, and are believed to be travelling in a stolen 2014 white Toyota Camry sedan.

The incident occurred at a residential property in Ormond, Melbourne's south-east, early Sunday morning, with two men found with stab wounds. While the victims have not been identified by the police, it's understood that two other men fled the scene following the altercation.

The authorities are urging anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspects to come forward. The police are still investigating the cause of the dispute and are working to apprehend the individuals involved in the incident.
