PTC News Desk: Ever since the E. Coli outbreak first traced to McDonald's Corp., other brands like KFC and Burger King have also removed onions from some of their locations.

Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and KFC are some of brands that opted out of "an abundance of caution."

"We will continue following supplier and regulatory guidance to ensure the ongoing safety and quality of our food," the company said.

Burger King said that they have received some of its onions from a Colorado facility which is run by Taylor farms supplied by  McDonald's restaurants which have been affected the most by the outbreak. The farms have recalled the batches of yellow onions in spite of finding no traces of the bacteria in the wake of caution. Restaurant distributors US Foods Holding Corp. and Sysco Corp. have also notified customers of the recall.

"Despite no contact from health authorities and no indications of illness, we proactively asked our 5% of restaurants who received whole onions distributed by this facility to dispose of them immediately two days ago and we are in the process of restocking them from other facilities," Burger King said.

The food industry in the United States is on alert following the E.Coli bacteria outbreak. US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention stated that outbreak likely tied to pre-slivered onions served on McDonald's products. While the food joint is also working with the health authorities to confirm the source of the bacteria.
