Farmers' protest garners support from Indian diaspora abroad, car rally to be held in Canada's Surrey on December 13

PTC News Desk: The farmers' protest has once again managed to garner overseas attention as Indian diaspora from around the world has stood vouching for farmers' protest. A car rally has been organised in Surrey, Canada on December to mark the 10 months of the agitation. The rally follows another demonstration which was held in Surrey, Canada.

Confirming the news, farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said that the rallies were being organised by immigrants to bring the attention of the West towards the protest in India

“Car rallies are being held to show the conditions of unarmed farmers, who were injured after tear gas shells were lobbed at them, as they were marching on foot towards Delhi from the Shambhu border and were denied entry into Haryana by police and paramilitary personnel,” said Pandher.

To express solidarity with farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, the immigrants in California have also decided to observe a day- long fast as Dallewal's fast-unto-death enters 17th day. He has been observing an indefinite fast at the Khanauri border since November 26.

The SKM (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha appealed to the people of the country to skip dinner to express solidarity with both outfits and SKM (Non-Political) convener Jagjit Singh Dallewal.

On the other hand Union minister of state Ravneet Singh Bittu said that farmers should engage in dialogue with the authorities instead of sending jatha to Delhi. In response to Bittu's statements Sarwan Singh Pandher said Bittu should refrain from making such statements.

“We are urging for a formal discussion, which could bring out a fruitful result. If Bittu is serious then he should go to Delhi, bring a formal letter from the government and engage in talks to resolve the issue,” said Pandher.
