China calls Trump's tariffs 'bullying practice', vows to fight till the end
PTC News Desk: China seems to be unfazed by Donald Trump's tariffs as it has vowed to continue to fight till the end.
US President Donald Trump on Monday threatened China with a whopping 50 per cent additional tariff, on top of the 34 per cent levy on Chinese imports announced a few days back. In response, China has called the tariffs a bullying practice and said that it won't be intimidated and that US has imposed tariffs for unfounded reasons.
Responding to Trump's threat, China said that it will resolutely take countermeasures to safeguard its own rights and interests. "The US side's threat to escalate tariffs against China is a mistake on top of a mistake, once again exposing the American side's blackmailing nature," China's commerce ministry said in a statement.
"If the US insists on having its way, China will fight to the end," the ministry added.
Trump took to his social media TruthSocial and said that China slapped an extra 34 per cent tariff on top of the already high ones they have. He further accused China of unfair trade practices like illegal subsidies and currency manipulation.
The US President also warned that if China will impose reciprocal tariffs then US will respond with even higher tariffs than before.
He further emphasised the consequences of China's actions, saying, "Additionally, all talks with China concerning their requested meetings with us will be terminated! Negotiations with other countries, which have also requested meetings, will begin taking place immediately."
