Canadian Parliament put on lockdown as man barricades himself inside
PTC News Desk: The Canadian Parliament has been briefly put on a lockdown on Saturday after a man barricaded himself inside the building, Ottawa police said.
"Officers are on scene at Parliament Hill for a barricaded man in the area of East block. There is a large police presence in the area. East block has been evacuated. There are no known injuries," the Ottawa police said in a post on X.
It also advised citizens to avoid the area and follow the direction of officers.
"Road closures remain in place on Wellington St. from Bank Street to Sussex Drive," they added.

Authorities have reportedly dispatched specialized patrol teams to the area, including a canine unit and two bomb disposal robots.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney dissolved Parliament on March 23, triggering a snap election set for April 28. The vote will take place nearly six months earlier than the initially planned date of October 27.
