Canada Hindu temple attack: Police arrest pro-Khalistan protest organiser Inderjeet Gosal
Canada Hindu temple attack: The main organiser of Canada's so-called Khalistan referendum has been arrested and charged with being involved with last Sunday's violent attack on a Hindu temple in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
Peel Regional Police (PRP) said on Saturday that 35-year-old Inderjeet Gosal, of Brampton, was arrested on Friday and charged with Assault with a Weapon. He has been released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton later, according to the release.
Gosal was arrested on November 8 following a protest at the Hindu Sabha temple in which Khalistani extremists attacked Hindu-Canadian devotees.
The demonstration on Gore Road turned violent, with some wielding flags and sticks as weapons. Police started an investigation into multiple offences, many of which were captured on video, and are still scrutinising to identify further suspects.
Gosal was released with conditions and is due to appear in court later. The police have constituted a Strategic Investigative Team to continue investigating the incidents of November 3 and 4. They stated that these investigations take time, and arrests are made as people are identified.
Who is Inderjeet Gosal?
Gosal has been believed to be Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) general counsel Gurpatwant Pannun's lieutenant. He succeeded Hardeep Singh Nijjar as the referendum's principal Canadian organiser when the latter was killed in Surrey, British Columbia, on June 18 of last year.
