Canada: 4 Indians killed as their Tesla crashes into divider, catches fire
PTC News Desk: Four Indians were killed when their Tesla car crashed into a divider and caught on fire in Toronto, Canada. One other person was injured in the accident.
The incident took place on October 24. According to CTV News, the vehicle lost control, crashing into a guardrail and a concrete pillar on Lake Shore Boulevard. However, it is still unknown what prompted the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
"Upon impact, the vehicle then caught fire," Duty Inspector Phillip Sinclair told CTV News.
The names of the deceased have not been revealed, but police have identified them as a 26-year-old man, a 29-year-old man, a 32-year-old man, and a 30-year-old woman. A 25-year-old woman was saved by passersby, including Rick Harper. He stated he saw the rising flames while driving down Lake Shore Boulevard. Harper had a fire extinguisher and decided to stop to help.
He and another bystander decided to break up the window with a bar. It took them a few strokes, but the 25-year-old woman crawled out of the car. However, she was in such shock that she did not disclose any information. She was sent to the hospital but did not sustain any life-threatening injuries.
Harper says he had no idea there were more people inside besides the driver. However, he remembered seeing the Tesla's interior filled with smoke and hearing a "small voice" that was "letting out yells."
"It was muffled, quiet and weak. That's what hurts: hearing a voice and then finding, a few hours later, that people were in that car and no one knew. Nobody knew until the fire was out," he told CTV News.
