Birthday turns tragic: In an unfortunate, tragic and unsettling incident from Tennessee, birthday turned out to be nightmare and dreadful for 7-year-old little girl Alexandra Kelly as she died while popping birthday balloons that her mother got for her birthday decoration.

Grief-stricken mother, Channa Kelly took to her Facebook post to warn others about the dangers and how life-threatening can be birthday decoration items and stuff.

Taking to her Facebook post, bereaved mother mother explained that she purchased a giant number 7 balloon along with 10 other more Roblox-themed latex balloons for her daughters 7th birthday.

Heart-broken mother further added that she was always aware of the disadvantages of latex balloons but never imagined that these party decors would cause such risk.

The dreadful incident unfolded a week after Alexandra Kelly’s birthday when lying in her bedroom, birthday girl was popping all her latex balloons.

Unaware of the dangers and life-threatening balloons, Channa Kelly found her daughter with face down on the floor and unresponsive with the Mylar balloon over her head

In her post she further added that, "I thought for a second that she fell asleep but then noticed [that the] balloon was around her head. I quickly removed the balloon, called 911 and began CPR right away. I asked the 911 operators to remind me of the steps of CPR because it had been so long since my last certification and I didn't want to mess up.”

Police and medics came shortly later, but their attempts to resuscitate her were futile.

Notably, Helium filled in balloons can displace oxygen in the lungs and potentially lead to asphyxiation. This is particularly dangerous if someone intentionally inhales helium to change their voice, as it can lead to oxygen deprivation. Small children can be at risk of choking if they put deflated or burst balloon pieces in their mouths. These pieces can block their airways, leading to suffocation.
