'Free Bengal from Modi's rule': Bangladesh terrorist tells CM Mamata Banerjee, threatens India's stability

PTC News Desk: The chief of the Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT), an al-Qaida-affiliated terrorist outfit in Bangladesh, Jashimuddin Rahmani has asked West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to "free Bengal from Modi's rule and declare its independence". His comments come days after his release by Bangladesh's interim government led by Muhammad Yunus.

In a viral video, the leader of an Islamist organisation made highly inflammatory remarks about India, threatening the country's stability.

According to media sources, Rahmani also reportedly asked assistance from Pakistan and Afghanistan for the 'independence of Jammu and Kashmir'. The Ansarullah Bangla Team is an affiliate of al-Qaida in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), a banned organisation in India.

Rahmani made the statements in a video that has gone viral and was most likely shot in a hospital. According to India Today, a Dhaka-based fact-checker confirmed the video's authenticity. PTC does not take any responsibility for the authenticity of the video.

According to reports, in the viral video, Rahmani says, “I am warning India…Bangladesh is not like Sikkim or Bhutan. The country has 18 crore Muslims. If you go towards Bangladesh, we will tell China to close the Siliguri corridor. We will urge the Seven Sisters [Northeastern states] to join the freedom movement."

"Tell Kashmir to get ready for freedom. Pakistan and Afghanistan will work together to assist Kashmir gain independence. We will work to free Kashmir. We will tell West Bengal's Mamata Banerjee to free Bengal from Modi's rule and declare independence," he continued.

"If we are challenged, if we are neglected, if chaos is created in our country, then the Tawhid population of Bangladesh, just like it has risen against [Sheikh] Hasina, to protect the freedom of Bangladesh, to protect Islam in Bangladesh, the Tawhid will unite to face you in the field," he said, as quoted by Print.

He went further: "The day is not far when your country too will be broken and the flags of the Tawhid will flutter above Delhi."

Former Banlagesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was deposed in a major rebellion sparked by students protesting government job quotas. She fled to India on August 5.

Rahmani was arrested in 2013 in connection with the murder of Ahmed Rajib Haider, an atheist blogger critical of extremist Islam. He was accused of provoking students to assassinate Haider in order to safeguard Islam.
