Armed rebels attack school in Uganda; 25 dead, 8 injured
Kampala (Uganda), June 17: At least 25 people were killed and eight injured after a school in western Uganda was attacked by armed rebels from the Allied Democratic Force.
According to authorities, armed ADF rebels with ties to ISIS attacked the Lhubirira secondary school in Mpondwe, near the country's border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo, on Friday night. "A dormitory was burnt and a food store looted. So far 25 bodies have been recovered from the school and transferred to Bwera Hospital," Uganda Police Force Spokesperson Fred Enanga said.
According to CNN, eight people remain in serious condition at Bwera Hospital.
According to the spokesperson, Ugandan Police and the Uganda People's Defence Force are in "hot pursuit" of the suspects.
