PTC Web Desk: Imagine waiting for a response that never came—only to receive it 48 years later. Tizi Hodson, a 70-year-old former stuntwoman, recently experienced this incredible twist of fate when her job application for a motorcycle stunt rider, sent nearly half a century ago, finally found its way back to her. The application, penned in January 1976, had been mysteriously stuck behind a drawer at a post office in Staines all these years.

The long-lost letter arrived with a handwritten note: “Late delivery by Staines Post Office. Found behind a drawer. Only about 50 years late.” The discovery left Tizi Hodson pleasantly shocked, bringing back memories of a youthful dream she had cherished. "I always wondered why I never heard back about the job. Now I know why,” she told the BBC, her voice tinged with amusement.

Back in 1976, Tizi typed out the application in her London flat, eagerly awaiting a response that never arrived. “Every day I looked for my post, but there was nothing there, and I was so disappointed because I really, really wanted to be a stunt rider on a motorcycle,” she recalled. Despite the initial heartbreak, Tizi’s adventurous spirit didn't wane.

Instead, she embarked on an extraordinary journey—one that took her to Africa, where she became a snake handler and horse whisperer. Eventually, she learned to fly, becoming an aerobatic pilot and instructor. Reflecting on her early days, she shared how she often had to hide her gender in job applications, fearing that being a woman would hold her back from opportunities. "I thought I would have no chance of even getting an interview,” she admitted.

Receiving the lost letter all these years later has brought a sense of closure, as well as a reminder of how far she has come. "It means so much to me to get it back all this time later,” she said with a smile.
