World Health Day 2022: Ministry of Ayush starts countdown for International Yoga Day
New Delhi, April 7: On the occasion of World Health Day, the Ministry of Ayush is celebrating Yoga Amrit Mahotsav on Thursday in the backdrop of 15th August Park, Lal Quila, (Red Fort) Delhi. The grand event, which marks the 75-day countdown to the International Day of Yoga (June 21), is being organised for a demonstration of the Common Yoga Protocol. Several Union Ministers, Members of the Parliament, Ambassadors of various countries stationed in Delhi, prominent sports celebrities, and yoga gurus are among the attendees of the programme. Earlier, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla reached the event venue as the Chief Guest.
The Ministry, in collaboration with its various stakeholders, has devised a 100-day countdown program for the 8th International Day of Yoga, with 100 organisations promoting yoga in 100 cities. Every year, the major event of International Yoga Day is a mass yoga demonstration led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Since the 8th International Day of Yoga falls within the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav year, the Ministry proposes commemorating IDY at 75 iconic places around the country. With the help of key stakeholders, the Ministry of Ayush has prepared a range of activities and programmes to celebrate the 8th International Day of Yoga. On the MyGov site, a variety of activities engaging the general public, such as pledges, competitions, quizzes, and video contests, will be held. PM Narendra Modi turned to Twitter on World Health Day to convey his gratitude to those working in the health sector. "Greetings on World Health Day. May everyone be blessed with good health and wellness. Today is also a day to express gratitude to all those associated with the health sector. It is their hardwork that has kept our planet protected," he tweeted.
"The Government of India is working tirelessly to augment India’s health infrastructure. The focus is on ensuring good quality and affordable healthcare to our citizens. It makes every Indian proud that our nation is home to the world’s largest healthcare scheme, Ayushman Bharat," the Prime Minister added.
