Voting turnout records 71.39% in Punjab, Counting of votes on Feb 17
Voting turnout recorded a new high in general/by-elections of 8 Municipal Corporations and 109 Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats of Punjab with 71.39 percentage of votes have been polled. Elaborating further, Spokesperson said that in SAS Nagar the voting turnout recorded 60.08 percent, while Roopnagar's voting figure has gone up to 73.80 percent. He said that the voting percentage in Fatehgarh Sahib have achieved 75.78 percent mark, Amritsar scored 71.20 percent, Tarn Taran 63.12 percent, Gurdaspur 70 percent, Pathankot 75.37 percent, Bathinda 79 percent, Mansa 82.99 percent, Faridkot voting percentage reached at 71.03 percent, while in Hoshiarpur total 66.68 percent and Jalandhar's poll percentage reached 73.29 percent mark. Apart from this, Barnala district attained 71.99 percentage mark, though Sangrur have administered the mark of voting at 77.39 percentage. The Spokesperson further said that today voters decided the fate of a total 9222 candidates and enlisted their opinion in EVMs. The result will come on February 17, 2021.
