US: Mass shooting at Los Angeles park; two dead, 5 injured
US, July 25: At least two people died and five were injured when gunfire erupted in a Los Angeles park where a car show was taking place on Sunday.
The shooting occurred around 3:50 p.m. near Peck Park in LA's San Pedro neighbourhood, according to the LAPD. The LAPD tweeted it wasn’t an active shooter situation but provided no more details.
According to the LA Fire Department, the incident occurred at or near the car show. At least three people were shot, with two of them critically injured who later succumbed to injuries. As per the fire department, overall seven people were hurt and taken to hospitals.

Peck Park is located around 20 miles (32.19 kilometres) south of downtown Los Angeles.
There had been 302 mass shootings across the US this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive.
President Joe Biden stated that the US needed to ban assault weapons in order to protect children and families or raise the purchasing age from 18 to 21 in light of the rising number of gun violence occurrences in the country.
