The American and United Kingdom flags would fly at half-mast from sunrise to sunset at government buildings in their countries as a tribute to Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

The US Embassy India tweeted, “The American people mourn with the people of India on the passing of former Prime Minister #AtalBihariVajpayee. May his soul rest in peace.”

The former leader, who was a recipient of Bharat Ratna, breathed his last after a prolonged illness. Vajpayee, who was the country's 10th Prime Minister, will be laid to rest at the Smriti Sthal on Friday evening.
