Nagpur, March 2: Amid the outbreak of Russia-Ukraine war, more than 600 Indian students are still stranded in a university located in Sumy, a city in north-eastern Ukraine. As per reports, they are facing threat amid continuous firing and bombing by Russian forces. While talking to a news agency over the phone, a youth (identity withheld) from Nagpur in Maharashtra, who is currently studying in the fourth year medical course in Sumy university, said not even one Indian student from Sumy State University, which was located close to the Russian border, had been evacuated so far. The embassy had neither evacuated them nor given them assurance for their safety. He said the students were scared and living in continuous threat. They are also not left with enough food and drinking water for the coming days. The Indian embassy has asked students stranded in Ukraine to use only the western border of Ukraine and reach the neighbouring countries of Poland, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and Moldova. However, Sumy city is located in the north-eastern part of Ukraine and students stranded their can't go all the way to the western part amid the war.
