Viral video: A video on Instagram showing a Kwality Wall's vanilla ice cream cup has gone viral, amassing 21.8 million views. In the clip, a customer raises concerns about the ingredients used by the popular food brand. The video shows a vanilla ice cream cup that was reportedly left "unopened overnight" and still had not melted the next morning. Upon removing the lid and tilting the cup, a yellow-gold liquid pours out, which the man claims is "completely palm oil."
The video was posted by Shreyaan Daga (@shreyaan.daga), who explained in the post, "We left this vanilla ice cream overnight, and when we opened it in the morning, it hadn't melted. When we poured it out, it was full of palm oil. This is the vanilla ice cream we have." In his caption, Daga shared his shock but expressed his long-standing faith in Kwality Wall's parent company, Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL), hoping they would address the health concerns.
Kwality Wall's responded to the viral post in the comments section, asking Daga to connect with them via direct message. The video has sparked a conversation, receiving over 3,00,000 likes and 10,000 comments. Many users pointed out that Kwality Wall's sells frozen desserts, not actual ice cream, which they believe is made using oils rather than dairy.
One user remarked, "Kwality Wall's has always sold frozen dessert made mostly of oil. You won't find the word 'ice cream' on their packaging." Another commented, "They should name it 'Oil Cream' so customers aren't misled."
