PTC Web Desk: A Michigan mother, Katie Lee, has been charged with murder for allegedly killing her 17-year-old son, Austin Pikaart, inside their apartment. According to court documents, Lee claimed that her son had asked her to take his life before he turned 18.
The authorities reported that Lee initially attempted to stop her son’s breathing before ultimately cutting his throat with a knife. After the incident, she called the police and admitted to the crime. When officers arrived at the scene, she was still holding a blood-covered kitchen knife and refused to drop it. Officers attempted to subdue her with a taser before taking her into custody.
An autopsy confirmed that Austin died from a fatal neck wound. During her virtual court appearance, Lee appeared visibly distressed, crying throughout the session. Meanwhile, her family members voiced their support from the courtroom gallery.
Lee has been formally charged with murder and, if convicted, faces a possible life sentence.
