Ram Lalla idol: Know how much gold, diamond used at Ram Temple
PTC Web Desk: In the newly constructed Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the idol of Ram Lalla, portraying Lord Ram as a five-year-old child, is embellished with a stunning collection of jewellery that reflects the deity's divine stature. Crafted by dedicated artisans, the jewellery incorporates at least 15 kg of gold and an impressive array of 18,000 diamonds and emeralds.
Artisans meticulously crafted each piece of jewellery for Ram Lalla idol, drawing inspiration from sacred texts such as the Adhyatma Ramayana, Srimad Valmiki Ramayana, Shri Ramcharitmanas, and Aalavandar Stotra. These texts served as both guides and sources of inspiration, ensuring that the jewellery reflects the scripture-based beauty of Lord Ram as described in these revered texts.
The magnificent collection comprises 14 pieces, including a tilak, a crown, four necklaces, a waistband, two pairs of anklets, Vijay Mala, and two rings. Remarkably, the entire set was completed in just 12 days. The responsibility for crafting this divine jewellery was entrusted to Lucknow's Harsahaymal Shyamlal Jewellers, selected by the Ram Mandir Trust.
The crown, serving as the centrepiece of the collection, was crafted with meticulous attention to detail. Weighing approximately 1.7 kg and made of 22-carat gold, it features 75-carat diamonds, 175-carat Zambian emeralds, and 262-carat rubies. The design, resembling the turban of a five-year-old, perfectly captures Lord Ram's tender age. Symbolic elements such as the representation of Lord Surya and diamonds denoting purity adorn the crown.
Following the crown, the tilak, or divine forehead marking, is created using 16 gram of gold, featuring three-carat diamonds at the centre and 10-carat diamonds on either side. An emerald ring, weighing 65 gram, symbolises Lord Ram’s wisdom and harmonious relationship with nature during his forest-dwelling days. The ring incorporates four-carat diamonds, 33-carat emeralds, and a central Zambian emerald.
