PTC News Desk: Valentine's Day is synonymous with expressions of love and affection, and this year, Google has added a unique touch to the celebration with an interactive doodle focusing on the chemistry of love.

Each year, February 14 marks Valentine's Day, a day celebrated worldwide without strict guidelines on how to observe it. People from various cultures have developed their own traditions to honor this day, often expressing their love through gestures like sending flowers, cards, or chocolates.

In line with the theme of love and chemistry, Google's interactive doodle, titled "Chemistry CuPd," offers users an engaging experience. Upon clicking on the doodle, users are directed to a page where they can take a quiz to discover their "chemical element." The quiz assesses personality traits and matches users with elements like hydrogen, sodium, nitrogen, and more.

The doodle encourages users to explore the concept of diatomic bonds, where two atoms form a molecule. Whether it's a bond between two atoms of the same element, like hydrogen gas (H2), or between different elements, such as hydrogen chloride (HCl), the doodle illustrates the concept with playful animations.

Accompanying the doodle, Google's blog explains the significance of the interactive game, stating, "Are you made of beryllium, gold, and titanium? Because you're BeAuTi-ful! Today's interactive game Doodle celebrates Valentine's Day with a scientific spin - it's all about the chemistry. There's no stronger bond than love, especially when the chemistry is just right. Happy Valentine's Day!"

With its creative blend of science and romance, Google's Valentine's Day doodle offers a fun and educational way to explore the chemistry of love on this special day.

About Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day, the culmination of Valentine's Week, features various expressions of love. Traditionally, people send cards, gifts, and messages of affection. Some may send anonymous tokens of love. Popular gifts include chocolates, dinner, and flowers, especially roses. Personalized gifts like framed photos or playlists are also common, as are special activities together.

According to Encyclopaedia Britannica, Valentine's Day originates from the Roman festival of Lupercalia in mid-February. Lupercalia celebrated spring's arrival with fertility rituals and matchmaking lotteries. Pope Gelasius I replaced it with Saint Valentine's Day in the 5th century. However, celebrating February 14 as a day of romance began in the 14th century.
