Diljit Dosanjh clarifies venue concerns amid Chandigarh concert controversy, says 'Never said won't do shows in India'
PTC Web Desk: Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh has addressed the controversy surrounding his recent Chandigarh concert, emphasising that his concerns were about the venue in Chandigarh and not India as whole. Responding to rumours, Diljit Dosanjh clarified, “The issue was solely with the challenges we faced regarding the venue in Chandigarh, and I never said I won't perform in India.”
The controversy emerged just a day before the concert when a petition was filed in the Punjab and Haryana High Court, citing concerns over the event being held in a residential area and the potential inconvenience to residents. Although the court allowed the concert to proceed, it imposed several restrictions, including limits on volume and a ban on certain songs.
During the event, Diljit candidly shared his frustrations over the last-minute uncertainties. “It’s only because of your love and blessings that this concert is happening. Until this morning, we weren’t sure if it would go on,” he told the audience.
Diljit further clarified his stance, noting that he never intended to imply he would not perform in Chandigarh or India. "I never said I won’t perform in India. My point was that we need suitable venues to ensure smooth and enjoyable events for everyone,” he said. He also stated that until proper infrastructure is in place, he would reconsider performing in Chandigarh to prioritise a better experience for his fans.
The artist also addressed broader challenges with live concert infrastructure in Chandigarh, promising improvements for future shows. "I’ll make sure next time there’s a proper stage setup that allows you to be closer to me," he added, assuring fans of his commitment to delivering high-quality performances.
Despite the hurdles, the Chandigarh concert witnessed an overwhelming response, with fans turning out in large numbers to support the singer. Diljit’s Illuminati Tour in India has been a significant success, though it continues to be marred by controversies, including legal notices and logistical challenges.
Diljit assured his audience that he remains dedicated to his craft and hopes for smoother arrangements in the future to avoid such disruptions.
