PTC News Desk: Devotees from Pune on Friday visited the famous Tirumala Venkateswara Temple in Andhra Pradesh wearing 25 kg gold worth Rs 180 crore.

Two men, a woman, and a boy went to the temple dressed in gold chains, sunglasses, bangles, necklaces, a '7' number gold chain, and other accessories.

At least two men in navy blue khaki suits and a cop were guarding the devotees as they sought blessings at the temple.

The ancient hill temple attracts between 75,000 and 90,000 pilgrims every day. According to Syamala Rao, executive officer of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), the world-famous Sri Venkateswara temple received Rs 25 crore in offerings in July.

Rao stated that nearly 22 lakh pilgrims visited the shrine in July, with 8.6 lakh devotees having tonsuring. The temple also sold more than a crore laddus (consecrated sweets).

The temple is devoted to Venkateswara, an incarnation of Vishnu who is believed to have arrived on Earth to save humanity from the trials and troubles of the Kali Yuga.
