Another stand-up comedian stirs row, Swati Sachdeva criticised for joke on mother

PTC Web Desk: Weeks after YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as BeerBiceps, faced severe backlash for a controversial joke involving parents, stand-up comedian Swati Sachdeva has stirred fresh debate with a similar theme. A viral video of her recent performance has sparked mixed reactions online, with some finding it humourous and others calling it inappropriate.

During her set, Swati Sachdeva narrated an incident about her mother discovering a vibrator at home. In the clip, she humorously describes how her mother, trying to act as a ‘cool mom,’ confronted her about the device, referring to it as a "gadget" and a "toy." The joke took an unexpected turn when she quipped, "I swear, Mom, it belongs to Papa," to which her mother allegedly responded, "Don’t speak nonsense; I know his choice."

While some social media users appreciated the comedic take, others criticised it as vulgar. One X user wrote, “This shameless Swati Sachdeva is spreading obscenity in the name of comedy. For fame and money, she isn’t even sparing her parents.” Another comment read, “Today’s comedy has degraded to nothing but foul language.”

The controversy comes amid ongoing legal trouble for Ranveer Allahbadia over a question he posed on the YouTube show India’s Got Latent. His remark—asking a contestant whether they would rather witness their parents’ intimate moments daily or participate once to stop it—led to police complaints, FIRs, and an ongoing investigation.

Samay Raina, who was also part of the show, recently appeared before Maharashtra Cyber officials for questioning regarding the case. He had earlier been summoned on March 24.
