Reels craze takes life: 14-year-old Myanmar TikToker falls to death while taking selfie atop waterfall

Reels craze takes life: Days after the tragic and heart-wrenching incident when 26-year-old popular travel influencer Aanvi Kamdar tragically lost her life after falling into a 300-foot gorge at Kumbhe waterfall near Maharashtra's Raigad, another dreadful incident came to limelight when a 14-year-old Myanmar TikToker has fallen to her death while taking a selfie atop a waterfall.

The Tragic Incident

The tragic incident unfolded when Moe Sa Nay was at Sinywa Waterfall in Paung, Myanmar, with a friend on July 22 when she slipped and was quickly swept away by the strong current. She became trapped between two large boulders and, unable to free herself, is believed to have drowned.

Her friend also slipped but did not get trapped, escaping with minor injuries.

A rescue worker explained, "She died because she couldn't get out. They tried to rescue her but couldn't pull her out. Then the aid organizations and officials came.”

Known for taking selfies for her TikTok handle, Moe Sa Nay had 150,000 followers.

This tragic incident serves as a grim reminder of the potential dangers involved in creating content for social media. Incidents of people getting injured or dying while trying to take pictures have become more common.
